The Eleventh International School on Theoretical Physics
Symmetry and Structural Properties of Condensed Matter
Rzeszów 1-6 september 2014
The conference SSPCM 2014 is a continuation of a well-known and highly regarded in the country and abroad, the International School of Theoretical Physics, which was founded by Professor Tadeusz Lulek. It is aimed at a wide range of young scientists starting their careers both in theoretical and experimental physics. It encounters the most recent issues related to the physics of solids such as quantum information, exactly solvable models, correlations in low-dimensional systems, spintronics, and more. The aim of the conference is to provide an attractive way of spreading sophisticated mathematical and physical problems among young people.
International Summer School of Theoretical Physics „Symmetry and Structural Properties of Condensed Matter” (SSPCM) has started in 1990 in Zajączkowo, organized by the Institute of Physics of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. It was initiated and organized by the team of Division of Mathematical Physics leaded by Professor Tadeusz Lulek. The next four editions were held in the same place, whereas the last five conferences were settled in Myczkowce, organized under auspices of Higher Pedagogical School, the University and University of Technology, all in Rzeszów.
The main subject of the conference remained essentially the same and was related to advanced mathematical methods, applicable in condensed matter physics, such as quantum information, exactly solvable models, correlations in low-dimensional systems, nanophysics, spintronics, and more. During its nearly two decade history, the conference hosted several outstanding scientists from over the world, whereas various groups of young researchers who started their adventures with the science, reached their PhDs, professorships, and, first of all, recognition in the scientific society.
Proceedings of the first seven editions of the conference have been published by World Scientific Publishing Company, and the last three in Journal of Physics: Conference Series, Institute of Physics Publishing.
